2018 will see 4 ground quest events with the first being in February giving competitors enough time after the festive period to test their BJJ skill set for the new year ahead.
As the pool for each weight division grows at every event, divisions are stacked and with the round robin structure in place athletes can expect a tough year of competition ahead.
Former undefeated champ of the mens welterweight division William Oberholzer says hes looking forward to see what the South African athletes have learnt , since this year saw international athlete Marcos Wesley dominate his weight division. Next year can expect more national and international athletes competing.
A new dimension was recently added to the Ground Quest mix by extending an invitation to all the youngsters to come and “have a go”, regardless of age or experience.. Much to the delight of Shihan Larry and his very capable team, over 20 youngsters between the ages of 8 years to 16 years flocked to the most recent Ground Quest event. A very big hand to the refs and officials that made the day a resounding success
